1. I'm ready. Where do I start?

Congratulations, you've taken the first step just by being here! If you're ready to work with me, start by booking a free 30 minute consultation. This can be either in your home or online, and you can book it by clicking here, or by emailing nicola@mossandearth.co.uk.

2. How long will it take?

There's no real way to tell until I've seen the job, but with a bit of help, it often takes a lot less time than you're dreading!

3. Will I need to be there?

It helps an awful lot if you can be on hand. Often, we will have to start with decluttering before we can organise, and I really don't want to throw out something that matters to you! So, it will help if you can be there for the sorting phase.

4. What are your credentials?

I'm currently working towards certification in professional organisation, and will become a member of the ADPO as soon as I can afford the membership. I have been DBS checked and can send you the certificate, and I have full public liability insurance. I have also been working since I was fourteen years old (I'm 37 now) I've had a lot of jobs, a lot of experience, including in running my own illustration business, and in every role I have always loved organising. And I have sorted some seriously chaotic spaces (including the back room of a homeware store - but let's not go there!). I will shortly be taking a training course in carpentry, and look forward to applying for an NVQ level one in carpentry this year. I have a degree in Fine Art from the University of Reading, and have worked as a freelance illustrator for the last seven years (howellillustration.co.uk).

5. I'm too embarrassed to have you in my home!

I get it, it can be really scary inviting someone into your personal space, let alone showing you something that may have been weighing on your mind for a long time, but I love to organise, and I love to help - you don't have to worry about me; I want to help you shake that weight off!

6. Do you help hoarders?

Hoarding is an issue that unfortunately I am not qualified to help with, and if you suffer from this, I highly recommend you seek professional therapeutic help - you can find resources for help with this on the website Hoarding UK

7. When can I book you?

I am a mum of a two year old and at the moment work irregular hours. You can book me on a Thursday to help, or on Saturdays. There is also scope for me to help you on Tuesdays or Fridays, and on certain evenings. Please see my booking calendar, and if you can't find hours that suit you, please contact me at nicola@mossandearth.co.uk and I'll see what I can do!

8. What do I do with the stuff I choose to get rid of?

Easy - I'll take it away with me and dispose of it in an eco friendly and sustainable manner. I can take things to charity, to the recycling centre, or if needed, to the dump - whatever you choose to do with your belongings, I am on hand to help.

9. How do you do this sustainably?

First of all, I try to use items that are already in your home - you'll be surprised at what's already there that just needs to be utilised correctly. I also keep a stock of second hand storage solutions. These are sourced from charity shops, Ebay, Vinted, etc., so no new plastic items are created for this role. I try to bulk buy similar items, so that I can still ensure your organisation systems are both aesthetic and fun to use (that's half the battle in staying organised!). If I need to build some bespoke storage, then I use wood offcuts as much as I can, and environmentally friendly wood. Buying new is the last resort. I minimise plastic and use eco friendly cleaning products.

10. What is your inclusivity policy?

I am a white, cis woman (pronouns she/her) and a supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and of Black Lives Matter. I welcome diversity and love in any form. I hope that you can feel safe with me.

10. What areas do you cover?

I cover areas in East Surrey, West and East Sussex and Kent that are within half an hour drive of Godstone south of the M25. If I don't cover your area, but you really want me to help you, then please contact me at nicola@mossandearth.co.uk and I'll do my best to help!

A hand drawn map of the areas covered by Moss and Earth. It stretches just below the M25 from Dorking to Sevenoaks, then down to Haywards Heath. Lingfield, Horley, Ockley, Redhill, Oxted and Edenbridge are all marked.
