What is Moss & Earth?

Moss & Earth is my company, which provides home organisation services in and around Surrey, West Sussex and Kent. My services include organisation, artwork and gallery wall plans and hanging, and light carpentry and interior design, to help you make the most out of your space.

Meet the Woman Behind Moss & Earth

Hi, I'm Nicola Hawley and I set up Moss and Earth in December 2024.

I'm 37 and I live in South Godstone, near Outwood in Surrey with my husband and currently two-year-old.

For the last seven years I have been an independent illustrator (you can see my work at www.howellillustration.co.uk, and in my logo), but I am also a qualified primary school teacher, and I have worked in book editing, as a bookseller in various bookshops, in a bakery, in a homeware store and as a cleaner. I have had a lot of jobs both in and out of London and for some reason I have only just noticed the one constant: I love organising!

Why Set Up Moss & Earth? And Why Home Organisation Services?

I wanted to bring everything I loved together; I love to work with my hands, I love to be creative, I love to organise and I love to help people. For the longest time I could not figure out how all of these sections intertwined. Until finally it dawned on me: professional organising.

Except I also have the skills for a lot of things that tie in with that: I'm practical and handy, I have basic carpentry skills (and plans to qualify with an NVQ), DIY skills; I have seven years as an illustrator under my belt, and can put together beautiful displays of artwork and gallery walls. I'm hugely into interior design and avidly soak up every design program and magazine going. I've been a cleaner and I'm very into sustainability. So, I can help you to work out the best use of the space in your room, help you to envision how it could look, tidy, clean and organise your space and build you bespoke storage, all in the most sustainable way possible. It just seems to bring together absolutely everything I love.

The Future of Moss and Earth

I hope Moss & Earth takes off - and I hope I can bring together all of my skills in the way that you need. I have several plans; plans for bespoke artwork, welcome packs and sustainable storage solutions. I want to qualify as a carpenter, and as a professional organiser, and I am currently working towards both.

But there is one thing that I want to do the most: I want to help people feel that same sense of calm and relief that I get when something has been organised well. I want to help you breathe easy in your home.
